Dr. Nunez has dedicated over three decades to the field of psychiatry, providing exceptional care and expertise to her patients. Currently associated with Centro Médico Dominicano, she serves as a psychiatrist, offering outpatient care and support to those in need of mental health services. Her role involves diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders, developing treatment plans, and providing ongoing care to help her patients achieve better mental health outcomes. She has also been an outpatient psychiatrist at Saint Mark’s Place Institute for 34 years.

Previously, Dr. Nunez held the position of in-patient psychiatrist at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for 18 years. In this capacity, she managed the psychiatric care of patients admitted to the hospital, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive treatment. Her tenure at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital was marked by her dedication to patient-centered care and her commitment to staying abreast of the latest developments in psychiatric medicine.

Throughout her career, Dr. Nunez has been recognized for her compassionate approach to patient care and her ability to build trust with those she serves. Her most notable achievement is the profound impact she has had on the community through her work. Dr. Nunez finds immense satisfaction in working with people and takes pride in the love and fulfillment she receives from helping them navigate their mental health journeys.

Dr. Nunez’s educational background laid the foundation for her successful career in psychiatry. She completed her psychiatric residency at Cabrini Medical Center, where she gained valuable experience in diagnosing and treating a variety of mental health conditions. Dr. Nunez earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo in 1989. The challenges she faced as an international medical graduate only fueled her determination to excel in her field. Her success can be attributed to her hard work, tenacity, dedication, and passion for helping others, coupled with unwavering support from her family.

The journey into psychiatry was a natural progression for Dr. Nunez, who grew up with a keen interest in psychology and a talent for listening empathetically to others’ personal stories. Her decision to move to the United States allowed her to pursue psychiatry more fully and practice it in an environment that offered greater opportunities than were available in her native Dominican Republic.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Nunez is also a devoted mother to two daughters, who have been an integral part of her life’s joy and motivation. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys enriching her mind through reading and indulging in cultural experiences such as going to the theater. Traveling is another passion that allows Dr. Nunez to explore new places and cultures, further broadening her understanding of people from all walks of life.
